The outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has created a global health crisis that has had a deep impact on the way we perceive our world and our everyday lives. Not only the rate of contagion and patterns of transmission threatens our sense of agency, but the safety measures put in place to contain the spread of the virus also require social distancing by refraining from doing what is inherently human, which is to find solace in the company of others.
Last week we have intensified our health and hygiene education activities targeting children, elderly and marganalised communities. Malteser Albania afterschool program has distributed poster and flyers on COVID-19, hand washing and disinfecting surfaces.
What a better way, for young volunteers of Malteser Albania, to spend the last week of the year celebrating with those who are "forgotten". 25 disabled girls living all year long in the Missionary center of Mother Theresa house, spent a wonderful weekend, surrounded by the love, care and fun provided by 20 young Malteser volunteers.
