“A mimosa flower of love for you mother, for you teachers ...”

The beginning of March brings its first feasts, the teacher’s and women’s day.
The teacher’s day dates back in 1887, when the first secular school which taught lessons in Albanian was opened on this day in the small city of Korça, while the International Women's Day, originally called International Working Women's Day, is marked on March 8, where the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women's economic, political, and social achievements.
festat marsit 2nSince days children have been preparing various activities, especially at kindergartens and schools.
Malteser Albania, together with its volunteers this time has been collaborating with the 9-year school “Liria”, which had prepared an artistic show with songs, recitations and dances entitled “A mimosa flower of love for you mother, for you teachers ...” in honor of teachers and mothers, supporting it in organization and logistics. Other participants in this activity were the children of “Malteser” kindergarten, some students of the nonpublic 9-year school “Zemra e Krishtit” and Lorena, a Malteser volunteer, a talented voice of one of the editions of “Gjeniu i vogël (The little genius).
The Village of Peace was the host of these children, and teachers, parents and guests were spectators of the show. The guests were given flowers, especially mimosas, the traditional flower of the feasts. At the end of the activity the Director of the Social Service Mrs. Valbona Tula greeted the assembly. A cocktail was prepared for the assembly in the lovely garden of the Village.
