There were 150 Roma and Egyptian children, children from rural areas and children coming from Shkrel, Dedaj and Fierza (Tropoja area), and a group of 9 youngsters from the parish of Rrëshen taking part.
The children were from families with social and economic problems.
The children participating in the camp were divided into three shifts, 50 children per shift, which lasted 9 days and 15 Albanian volunteers, who performed the activities. Even this year the goal of the project was the integration of Roma and Egyptian children, and of those coming from the rural areas in the social life, and offer them the opportunity to have summer vacation, since it is impossible for them to have holidays with their families due to economic and social conditions. Like every other year, the camp tents were set up by the volunteers.
Malteser Albania volunteers together with Sr. Dila and Sr. Vangji from the Fierza parish and German volunteers who stayed for 10 days, helped in the implementation of activities according to the plan. All the volunteers facilitated the camp activities giving a hand in the kitchen, cleaning, systemizing and maintaining of logistics, in service delivery, and care of the children.
Malteser Albania is very grateful for their support to: Malteser Hilfdienst, the parish group of Neuss/Germany “Hilfe fur Albanien” St. Cyriakus-Neuss-Grimlinghausen and especially to the volunteers who helped in the realization of the Camp and German volunteers Oliver Pfifer, who cooked for all participants for a week, and to Shary Reeves and Lea Hromada who worked voluntarily at the Malteser Camp.
