Seventeen volunteers of Malteser Albania, who have participated in the Summer Camp of Velipoja have been awarded by Malteser with a historical, cultural and spiritual trip on 18 and 19 October 2012.
They were accompanied by four staff members and Sr. Cristiana Basso, Franciscan Sister of the Heart of Jesus and together have gone through an impressive itinerary for them.
On Thursday, the journey started from Shkodra and the first stop was in Puka, to contemplate the natural beauties and the golden colors of autumn. The next stop was in Fierza. In Dushaj, the volunteers have been welcomed by the Franciscan Sisters of the Heart of Jesus, M. Lia and M. Evengeline, who offered the lunch and the shelter for the night. The walk in the Valley of Valbona has been an opportunity to see the wonders of our nature, which we often forget they exist.
In the evening, at the sisters they celebrated the birthday of the parish priest Dom Antonio Giovannini and the night has invited everyone to dream about the next day trip.
On Friday morning, the journey continued towards Kosovo in the town of Deçan. The visit to the Monastery of Deçan, has been another wonder for the volunteers. Prizren has been the next visit during midday, and then the return to Shkodra.
Great thanks are expressed for the Franciscan Sisters of the Heart of Jesus for their hospitality, especially to sister Cristiana who also accompanied us during our journey.
