September came, bringing a new academic year. Kindergartens and schools have reopened their doors to welcome familiar and new faces, inviting them once again to the ways of learning.
Malteser Kindergarten, now in its fourth year, is trying to create a very pleasant atmosphere of hospitality, although some of the children have frequented it even during summer. The first “official” day, remains always the first. The classrooms have been already decorated and are buzzing from the children’s voices. You can see smiling faces that eagerly embrace their teachers and peers, but there are also sad faces, who have not yet experienced the joy of learning and playing together with friends in the kindergarten. There are tears and fear to leave the parents’ hand. There are also those who, already dressed in school uniform, have not forgotten to give a grateful hug to their kindergarten teachers before entering the school classrooms.
The teachers live the emotions of children. They will start again from the beginning. There are 28 children who will attend the first group, where 11 are new ones and 26 in the second group, with 8 new children. Even this year will be full of work and commitment, because even children from families with economical and social difficulties, Roma children, autistic children and children from the Development Center will get their first knowledge in the Malteser Kindergarten. This is an opportunity for each child and family not to feel discriminated, but equal to every other person in the society. On behalf of their children, the parents give thanks to Malteser Hospitaldienst Austria and the former Ambassador of the Order of Malta in Albania, Prof. Dr. Günther Granser, for their financial support, which has enabled the opening and the attendance of the Malteser Kindergarten.
