On October 24 – 25, 2014, in the frame of the EuroVelo8 project, the NGO GO2 held an activity within the awareness and coordination of work between actors operating in the field of alternative and sustainable tourism in Shkodra, Albania and Region, in order to develop tourism in Shkodra.
Shkodra was chosen for this activity as the city with the highest percentage of bicycle use throughout Albania, the Balkans and Eastern Europe.
The activity was held in different parts of the city and consisted of workshops, parades of passionate people about bikes, entertaining games for children, etc.
On the first day, a workshop on “Bicycle Tourism” was held. It aimed to introduce to people the concept of a sustainable tourism, especially of bicycles. As a specific object was the presentation with the EuroVelo project, the European Commission on Tourism bicycle.
During the second day, on October 25, different activities were held, such as games, animations, street art, competitions, pictures, social theater, the presentation of the photo exhibition “Marubi” and artworks, bicycle parades, etc, which were concluded with the delivering of awards.
Malteser Albania assisted in all the activities of this event with its First Aid Team and ambulance.
