It is concluded the 35th Franciscan pilgrimage “I seek your face” with the itinerary Dushaj – Vau Dejës – Assisi, from July 24 to August 5, 2015 organized by the Friars Minor of Albania.
The Franciscan Order was founded in the early thirteenth century by Giovanni Francesco, a clergyman and poet, one of the first who wrote in the Italian language.
St. Francis was born in Assisi on September 26, 1182 and died on October 3, 1226. Although he lived a short life, his activity as a clergyman and poet is intense. Pope Gregory IX canonized him a saint in 1228, the shortest canonization ever made in the history of the Catholic Church.
After finishing the first itinerary Dushaj – Vau Dejës, the group of pilgrims from Albania joined pilgrims from around the world in Assisi. During their stay, they visited the church of St. Francis, St. Damian, St. Chiara, the fortress of Assisi and some other historical places.
On 2 August, the Franciscan superior, Bishop Jorge Enrique Concha Cayuqueo, OFM, celebrated Holy Mass for all the pilgrims.
