The end of July brought even the end of the Summer School – Camp, organized by Malteser Albania in Velipoja beach, which signs its 13th year.
The camp was held during 1-27 July, under the motto: “Keep calm and love Malteser Albania”.

It welcomed Roma and Egyptian children, children coming from the outskirts Shkodra, from the remote areas of Malësi e Madhe, Tropoja and Puka, whose families, faced with social or economical difficulties, can’t offer them the desired holidays. Expect holidays, the camp life was a good way to integrate these children even into the social life.
The camp was organized in four shifts, with 70 children and 10 volunteers for shift. Three Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Heart of Jesus from Tropoja (one for each shift) have been assisting the children and helping the volunteers with different entertaining and learning activities.
During 28-30 June the Malteser volunteers set up the camp helped Mr. Gregorio Barberi, member of the Italian Organization of the Order of Malta. During the camp days, leaded by staff, the volunteers organized and leaded all the planned activities: taking care of the children, dealing with the everyday activities, cooking, cleaning, and maintaining the logistics. With their presence and leading, the children enjoyed their holidays, learned and made new friends, and were active in camp life.
At the end of each shift, train rides and entertaining activities with Micky Mouse were organized.
On July 26, for the camp participants, the Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr. Gazmend Tinaj and a cocktail was prepared. After, the Malteser volunteers were delivered certificates of gratitude for the work done at the Summer School – Camp, Velipoja 2014.
The success of the Children Summer Camp, is dedicated to Malteser Hilfdienst, the parish group of Neuss/Germany “Hilfe für Albanien” St. Cyriakus-Neuss-Grimlinghausen, the Italian Organization of the Order of Malta, for the financial support in setting up and progress of the Summer School – Camp, Velipoja 2014, to whom Malteser Albania is very grateful.
