The Diocesan Catholic Youth Day, held a few weeks before Easter, has become a tradition for the Albanian youth.
This year, this day, for the diocese of Shkodra, was organized in Velipoja, in April 5, 2014, with the presence of thousands of young people, under the title ” Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”, words of the Gospel which have been inspiration for the message of the Holy Father Pope Francis, on the occasion of the XXIX World Youth Day 2014. The participants wore t-shirts with the saying “Keep calm and love Jesus!The event was opened by the greeting of Mgrs. Angelo Massafra, Archbishop of Shkodër -Pult and the presentation of youth groups from their representatives. After, for about two hours the young people were in the presence of the Eucharistic Adoration, led by Fr. Aurel Gjerkaj.
In the second part of the meeting the youth were divided into four groups to attend different activities according to specific topics.
The Malteser Albania was part of this important event for the catholic youth with 22 young people, who are members of Malteser Youth and with the First Aid Team.
