The 17th Malteser Albania Summer Camp for children has ended. The venue was Velipoja beach, (Adriatic Sea) where 210 Roma and Egyptian children, children from rural areas and children coming from Lezha city spend summer holidays from 25thJune to 28th July 2018.
Even this year the goal of the project was the integration of Roma and Egyptian children, and of those coming from the rural areas in the social life, and offer them the opportunity to have summer vacation, since it is impossible for them to have holidays with their families due to economic and social conditions.
Like every other year the children participating in the camp were divided into three shifts, 70 children per shift, which lasted 8 days and 20 Albanian volunteers, who performed the daily activities according to the plan.
All the staff members and volunteers facilitated the camp activities giving a hand in cleaning, systemizing and maintaining of logistics, in service delivery, and care of the children. A great relief was even the setting up of a new wooden house, placing two baths /containers that were available to the camp participants, the fixing of electricity wires through underground pipes, the installation of underground pipes for water and the underground drainage for toilets.
On July 26 a Holy Mass was celebrated by Father Dede Gjoka and after Mass a festive atmosphere was created. All the people present were invited to attend the show “I love Malteser Albania” initiated and conducted by the children and volunteers.
Malteser Albania is very grateful for their support to:
