The Malteser Multidisciplinary Center in Lezhë has opened the doors to the Lezha community in general and that of the Roma and Egyptians in particular. First activity was organized in August. With financial support of Malteser Albania in collaboration with a Roma NGO “Integration of Northern Roma” during first week of August was held a summer camp for children in Shengjin, Lezhe. Participants were 30 Roma children.
During September, representatives of Malteser Albania conducted several introductory and informative meetings with public and non-public institutions, with members of the Roma and Egyptian community of this area. With the start of the new school year, Malteser has started its intensive, integrative and entertaining activities with Roma and Egyptian children. In the activities with the children are included the members of Malteser Volunteers, who are specifically acquainted with the program and activities that take place in multidisciplinary environments. During the first meeting, staff and volunteers talked with Roma and Egyptian children on school, subject preferences and then painted and made entertainment games as well as football matches in the new sports field of this center.
