The International Day of People with Disability is an observance promoted by the General Assemble of the United Nations since 1992.

Each year the day focuses on a different issue and for 2013 it is: “Break Barriers, Open Doors: for an inclusive society and development for all”.
In the frame of this day, Malteser Consultation and Service Center, in collaboration with the Shkodra Municipality, the project “Shpresa”, the Development Center and the schools “Branko Kadia”, “Zemra e Krishtit”, Mati Logoreci”, “Shpresa për të Ardhmen” and the Malteser volunteers, organized in cinema “Millennium” the activity ” One day together.”
This event was a show in which songs, recitations, and dances were performed, not only by the children of the participating schools, but also by people with disabilities who live at the House Missionaries of Charity Mother Teresa at the project “Shpresa” and at the “Center of Development”. Two invited clouns increased the entertainment and enthusiasm of the participants through some games associated with songs.
The people with disabilities who live at the family-houses of the project “Shpresa” and at the “Development Center” had brought some works made by their own hands.
At the end of the activity for each person with disabilities, gifts were given, which were prepared by the pupils of participating schools and Malteser volunteers.
For the progress of the activity, the project “Shpresa” realized the posters and invitations, while the school “Zemra e Krishtit” wrote the script of the show. The Malteser volunteers assisted in transporting the disabled people and took care of the logistics and the program performance.
The activity “One day together” was financed by Malteser Albania and was transmitted by several local and national TVs.
