Malteser Albania has always been, and is still working extensively with the Roma and Egyptian Communities, providing assistance for them with the aim of bringing them to active inclusion in the society through services in various fields, such as: social, medical, civil protection, and legal consultancy.
The PAIRS partnership, with 18 partners from 8 SEE countries, including Albania, is financed by UE, and leaded by Malteser Hungary. Malteser Albania is part of this project, with Ministry of Labour and other partners. In the frame of the activities of PAIRS Project, the activity of the turn was held in Shkodra, on October 14, 2014. Its aim was the inclusion and awareness of stakeholders to encourage the preschool and school education for Roma and Egyptian communities in our country. During the study visits, Malteser has been introduced to initiatives which aim social inclusion of Roma and Egyptian children in the partner countries of the project.
During the meeting with the interested stakeholders in encouraging education, the Malteser staff presented for the participants the work done in collaboration with local and national stakeholders to extend the lessons derived from efficient methods of integration. During the meeting they presented the documentary “What do you want to be when you grow up?” a production of the partner organization of Romania. This documentary, which will be adopted with Albanian characters from the Roma and Egyptian communities, will be shown at all schools of Albania with the aim to sensitize the communities about their children’s education. After other themes were presented: “The forms of awareness which can be used to promote the participation of Roma and Egyptian children in preschool and school system” and “Stable and consistent partnerships in structure, to enable excess in preschool and school for Roma and Egyptian children”.
Representatives of the Regional Directorate of Education of Shkodra, Lezha, Malësi e Madhe, State Social Services, the Municipality and District of Shkodra, and various NGOs were present.
