With the coming of summer, Malteser Albania has organized for the 13th year the Summer School-Camp in Velipoja beach, which lasts for one month (1 – 27 July).
As every year, this Summer Camp is welcoming Roma and Egyptian children, children from rural areas, and they are given the opportunity to enjoy summer holidays their families can’t afford. These children come from poor and isolated backgrounds and the camp is a good way to integrate them into the social life.The participants are divided into three shifts, with 70 children and 10 volunteers for shift, and the first shift has just come to its end. Three Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Heart of Jesus from Tropoja are assisting the children and helping the volunteers with various entertaining and teaching activities planned in advance.
Before the Camp start, the Malteser volunteers prepared the territory and set up the tents during June 28-30. Even this year a great help is offered by Mr. Gregorio Barberi, member of the Italian Organization of the Order of Malta, who personally has come to help and lead the Malteser Albania volunteers in setting up the camp.
