Volunteers and the First Aid Team of the Albanian Organization of the Order of Malta have been in move during February 11, in the 23rd World Day of the Sick, in assisting the sick and the disabled people during two Masses held in the Cathedral “Mother Teresa” in Laç Vau-Dejës, celebrated by H. E. Mons. Lucjan Avgustini, and in the Cathedral “St. Stephen” in Shkodra, celebrated by H. E. Mons. Angelo Massafra.
February 11th, is the World Day of the Sick, initiated in 1992 by Pope John Paul II, as a way for believers to offer prayers for those suffering from illnesses. The day coincides with the feast of Lourdes, chosen because many pilgrims and visitors to Lourdes have reportedly been healed by intercessions of the Blessed Virgin.
People around the world take the time to pray for the sick and for those who work very hard to alleviate the sufferings of the sick on this day.
The Malteser volunteers transported the sick and the disabled people from the “House of Charity”, in Vau Dejës, and “The Missionaries of Charity Mother Teresa” in Shkodra to the Cathedrals and back, while the FA Team took care of them.
