Within the project “Support of the population of South Albania facing a flood emergency”, a project financed by Nando Peretti Foundation, and in collaboration with the Sapa Diocese, the Albanian Organization of the Order of Malta, concluded its project activities.
The project activities were divided in 2 phases. The last phase was concluded in December 2015, due to non-involvement in political influence during the election phase. For this reason it stopped its activities and resumed after the election of local authorities.
In December 2015, after the emergency situation, the Organization fulfilled the promises made to the residents of flooded villages. One of the promises was the instalation of 2 (two) water pumps which were destroyed due to flooding situation. Another consequence of flooding was the water chlorination that was not possible at this time. Thus this December there were 8 (eight) sacks with chlorine distributed.
the distribution of 50 packages for 50 families in affected areas was made possible as well.
Representatives of the Municipality and the Order were present throughout the distribution of aid packages to needy families according to the lists prepared to avoid possible misunderstandings.
