On Sunday, April 19, at the initiative of the Albanian Organization of the Order of Malta, a TV program was held in the studio of the TV Rozafa entitled “Autism”, in the frame of the awareness campaign this Organization is holding in April, the month on autism awareness.
A panel of four experts in this field was invited in this program: representatives of the Regional Education Department in Shkodra, Mrs. Suela Moleshka, head of the Disciplinary Committee at the Regional Education Department in Shkodra and z. Skënder Hasani, a member of this committee; as well as Mr. Arben Hoxha, therapists and Ms. Megi Lazri, a psychologist at the Malteser Consultation and Service Center. The program focused on several fields, such as providing information related to autism: what is autism, the warning signs, its treatments, etc. A presentation of the activities that the Albanian Organization of the Order of Malta organizes in this field; what the Regional Education Department in Shkodra does in terms of integrating children at schools who belong to the autism spectrum, steps held towards the introduction of supportive teachers in classes with children of this spectrum; the role and the qualification the teacher must have for this position. Another very important aspect discussed, was the role of the society in their admission, the assessment of their special skills as a key factor in their integration.
