The summer school – camp, Velipoja 2017 organized by the Albanian Organization of the Order of Malta has closed the curtain also for this year. This camp was held during 25 June -25 July, under the motto: “I love Malteser Albania”.
As every year, the camp is organized in the Velipoja beach during June -July, welcomed Roma and Egyptian children and children from remote areas and Shkodra, who were given the opportunity to enjoy summer vacation, lacked by their families due to their economic and social difficulties.The participants were divided into three shifts, with 70 children per shift, mainly Roma, Egyptian and other children, as well as 20 volunteers per shift.
There were representatives and parents of Roma and Egyptian communities helping in the camp together with the volunteers and staff members. Except preparing the territory and setting up the tents during 20-24 of June, the Malteser volunteers helped in the implementation of the educational and entertaining program.
With the support and the leadership of instructors, the children had the chance to be trained in riding horses, swimming and traditional dance.
The success of the Children Summer Camp, is dedicated to the MR.Franz Salm-Reifferscheidt, Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta for Roma Issues, who is the main sponsor for this activity, to the parish group of Neuss/Germany “Hilfe für Albanien” St. Cyriakus-Neuss-Grimlinghausen that supports our activity every year.
