“First Aid trainings at Schools”, with students of the 9-year and high schools in Shkodra and Lezha successfully came to the end of the second year of the project, which concluded with the competition among students of 15 participating schools.

First phase: 15 schools (ten 9-year and high schools in Shkodra and five 9-year schools in Lezha) with 15 students as participants for each were part of the First Aid trainings. 290 students from Shkodra and Lezha, have been enabled to provide first aid in emergency cases.
The schools, chosen in collaboration with the Regional Directorates of Education of the respective cities, were: the 9-year schools “Mati Logoreci”, “Branko Kadia”, “Iliria”, “Maria Ndihmëtare”, “Zemra e Krishtit” “Ndoc Mazi”, “Martin Camaj”, and the high schools “At Pjetër Meshkalla”, “Jordan Misja”, and “Shkolla Vau Dejës” from Shkodra and the nine-year schools “Gjergj Kastrioti”, “Nënë Tereza”, “Gjergj Fishta”, “Besëlidhja”, and “Kosova” in Lezha.
Second phase: Trainings of trainers (multiplicators) where 20 students from Shkodra and 10 from Lezha with best results have been trained as multiplicators with the aim to train their schoolmates in providing first aid, creating thus the “First Aid trainers’ (multiplicators) team” in each school.
Third phase: The First Aid multiplicators team” offered First Aid trainings to new students at their schools.
The fourth phase: The First Aid competition among the participating schools, where the winner school would receive a trainers’ kit (laptop, beamer and Anne modular) for First Aid Trainings, was held on April 11, 2014.
This competition was organized by Malteser Albania, with the participation of the best students of the 15 schools of Shkodra and Lezha, who are part of the “First Aid trainers’ (multiplicators) team” at their schools.
The First Aid competition was held at the settings of the school “At Pjetër Meshkalla” in Shkodra, in the presence of an audience of about 150 students, parents, headmasters and teachers, representatives of the Regional Directorate of Education in Lezha, representatives of the Roma community, whose children were participants in the competition, the Malteser Albania staff and volunteers who offered a great hand in organizing the event. The answers of the students were judged by a jury made of nurses and specialized volunteers in the field of First Aid Training.
The competition passed through 3 rounds:

At the end of the competition, the winner of the third place was the high school “Jordan Misja”, who received a First Aid Kit; the winner of the second place was the high school “At Pjetër Meshkalla, who received a laptop; and the 9-year school “Maria Ndihmëtare” was the winner of the first place receiving a trainers’ kit (laptop, beamer and Anne modular), which will be used for further First Aid trainings at their schools.
This First Aid training of students at schools will pass through its phases for another year.
