A large number of children in the world are engaged in paid or unpaid domestic work and they are particularly vulnerable to exploitation. Their work is often hidden from the public eye, and they may be isolated, or working far away from their family home.

Each year on 12 June, the World Day brings together governments, employers and workers organizations, civil society, as well as millions of people from around the world to highlight the plight of child labourers and what can be done to help them.
The World Day 2014 called for:
– Action to introduce, improve and extend social protection.
– National social security systems that are sensitive to children’s needs and help fighting child labour.
– Social protection that reaches out to especially vulnerable groups of children.

Being aware that the children in street situation are part of the most vulnerable groups and most of their rights have been broken, seeing that mainly the Roma and Egyptian children live in unacceptable physical, social and physiological conditions, not going to school and often being subjects to various forms of abuse and exploitation, Malteser Albania has undertaken various awareness activities against child labour.
These activities consisted in non formal information meetings with Roma and Egyptian people at the Malteser settings, in conversations about good examples in their communities, about the best students of the school “Beato Zefferini”, etc.
Another activity has been the deliverance of First Aid Certificates for the students who have attended the First Aid Training. They were a good example for their schoolmates.
